Do You Need Help Choosing An MLM Opportunity?
Do you need help choosing an MLM opportunity? Not many people actually get to pick their own MLM company as they are invited to join by a member of their own family or a friend. Many of these people have never heard of MLM before. However, if you do need help choosing an MLM opportunity, you need to do some ‘due diligence’ on the companies you are interested in, as well as some soul searching before you can find the right opportunity for you.
I disagree with alot of people who say that it does not make any difference which company you join.
1. Do you love the products? Would you happily sell them to your Granny? Because if you would not, will you be able to happily sell them? You need to have complete confidence in them, otherwise people will be able to see right through you. If you would use the products even if you did not join the business, then maybe they are right for you.
2. Have you considered the market for the product? Remember if everyone is touting the same kind of product, your customers will have already seen similar. There are just so many companies out there right now, selling the latest antioxidant super juice that I for one, even though I have sold a juice in the past and loved it, would not want to be involved in one nowadays. (And yes, I still drink it!) You really need something with great potential, a big market, and something which is current.
3. Low start up costs are very important. A high start up cost will put off a large portion of prospects. Low costs have always been one of the most important selling points of an MLM business. It brings starting your own business within almost anyone’s budget. Network Markting is one business which people can get involved in without lots of overheads.
4. Retention rate is very important in choosing an MLM opportunity. If the retention rate is low it will affect your residual income. Retention rates in Network Marketing are generally not good. How much better would it be to know that the majority of people you put into your business would stay there, year in, year out? If a company has a low retention rate, you can expect to have to find lots more distributors in order to get paid the same amount as you would in another company with a better retention rate!
5. Your compensation plan is very important. There are so many different compensation plans out there today, it is difficult to know what it best; unilevel, binary, matrix? Researching the type of plan is probably the best thing you can do. Think about the plan carefully, and compare it against other compensation plans. If it sounds too good to be true, maybe it is..
6. Have a look at the people who founded the company. Are they well-known and liked? Do they have a proven track record in business, either in MLM or direct sales? Make sure you also do some research on the company. Find out how long it has been operating; many MLM companies go under in their first year. Check out the growth it has had, what assets it owns and if it is well thought of.
7. MLM Watchdog is a good website to find out lots of information from; definitely worth a visit.
